Jesus & Women: in the First Century and Now

by Kristi McLelland
Facilitated by Laurie Zakarian | Chapel
Imagine walking the dusty roads of Galilee with Jesus of Nazareth—braving jostling crowds just to touch the edge of His cloak and hear Him say, “Take heart, daughter, your faith has healed you.”

Those words, once meant to comfort a hurting woman’s soul thousands of years ago, were also meant for you.

Join biblical culturalist Kristi McLelland on those dusty roads as she transports you back to Jesus’ world, following in the footsteps of the women who came face-to-face with the Living God. Over 7 sessions, examine the historical and cultural climate of first-century Middle Eastern society to not only understand Jesus more deeply but to fuel your worship of Him today.

Explore how Jesus generously restores dignity and honor to women in the first century and now.
Gain deeper insight into the biblical world, including fresh perspective on familiar Bible stories.
Discover the Bible through the lens of Middle Eastern culture.

Take Courage: A study of Haggai

By Jennifer Rothschild
Facilitated by Lisa Waite | Chapel
Do you ever feel like the happy ending of your story is a million miles away?

Then you know how the Jewish people felt when they returned to their wrecked land after exile and began rebuilding the temple. They were distracted, discouraged, and ready to throw in the towel. But the prophet Haggai reminded them they could find courage in the God who had never left them.

Sometimes the landscapes of our lives feel wrecked, with our hope and purpose in shambles. We too get distracted and discouraged. However, God’s presence and promises give us courage to press on and trust Him with our story. In this study on the Book of Haggai, learn to walk confidently in your calling, stay motivated despite opposition, and courageously invest your life in God’s purposes, trusting Him for results you may never see in this lifetime.

9:30 AM - 11:30 AM | Feb 7 - April 3

Amos: An Invitation to the Good Life

by Jennifer Rothschild
Facilitated by Denza Williams & Barbara Daughty | FLC 3115
Amos is often called a prophet of doom. And when you read his prophecy, that nickname seems to fit. On the surface. His message doesn't sound like a happy formula for the good life. However, every condemnation he declares serves as an invitation, a call to 'seek God and live’ (Amos 5:4). In this 8-session study from Jennifer Rothschild, you'll be invited to live assured, faithful, chosen, humble, justly, prayerful, and hopeful. This kind of living brings peace and true prosperity for us and those around us. Amos promotes the God life, and the God life is the good life.

9:30 AM - 11:30 AM | Feb 7 - April 3

As For Me: Life through the lens of the Psalms

by Adrienne Camp
Facilitated by Peggy Creel | Kids Bld Rm 4256
“As for me, I will tell about him forever; I will sing praise to the God of Jacob.”
Psalm 75:9

From songs of praise to cries of lament and everything in-between, the book of Psalms captures the wide range of emotions in life. The psalmists paint a picture of a relationship with God that is filled with delays, disappointments, surprises, and triumphs. Through it all, their words model an incredible resolve to keep their eyes on God. Instead of being swallowed up by the darkness of their emotions and circumstances, they persevered in grabbing hold of God's unfailing love and faithfulness.

In this 7-session Bible study, author and singer Adrienne Camp invites you to join her on a journey through the book of Psalms. Gain a deeper understanding of who God is and be encouraged to hold on to Him no matter what is happening around you. Let the psalms become the prayers you carry with you into every moment of every day, so that you, too, can say with confidence, “As for me, I will worship and serve the Lord no matter what.”

Thursday Evening

6:30 PM - 8:00 PM | Feb 8 - April 11

When You Pray: A study of six prayers in the Bible

by Kelli Minter, Jackie Hill Perry, Jen Wilkin, Jennifer Rothschild, Jada Edwards, and Kristi McLelland
Facilitated by Lynn Quernemoen | Online via Zoom
Do you have trouble thinking of words to say to God when you pray? Are you afraid some emotions are too intense to express to God? Do you reach the end of a day only to realize you haven’t prayed at all? You’re not alone. Prayer is the way we relate to God, but sometimes it’s a struggle. Throughout God’s Word, we encounter many voices who teach us how to pray.

In this 7-session study, join with six beloved Bible teachers who will help you study prayers in the Bible that can inspire your own. You’ll learn that God welcomes your praise and lament, your thanksgiving and intercession. You’ll see examples of how to pray when you’re alone and when you’re gathered with others. Above all, you’ll notice there’s no one right way to pray. As you draw near to God through prayer, you’ll find your faith strengthened and your heart united to Christ.

In this study, you will:
  • Explore different types of prayer modeled in Scripture
  • Understand how prayer unites believers to God and to one another.
  • Learn how to overcome struggles that keep you from talking to God
