The Kindergarten class meets Monday-Thursday from 9:15am to 2:15pm.
FBLC’s Kindergarten is a wonderful program that provides a variety of options for five year olds (as of September 1, 2016). After completing the kindergarten class, children are prepared for first grade, but some parents choose to use this as a transition year for public /private kindergarten. The kindergarten class size is kept smaller than public kindergarten in order to allow more one-on-one teacher time and to tailor to learning experiences based on individual needs of students. The classroom is full with 12 students.
Our program uses a combination of curriculum resources including Daily 5 , Everyday Math, and Lucy Caulkins for writing . These resources are used alongside the monthly themes chosen by FBLC Administration as well as Lifeway’s Levels of Biblical Learning in order to teach age- appropriate spiritual concepts and Christian values.
The kindergarten classroom provides a balance of structured play and direct instruction to ease students from a preschool to a public/private school setting, whether they will go to kindergarten or first grade.
Kindergarten has a scheduled snack, lunch (provided by parent), indoor/outdoor activity time, and follows a similar classroom schedule to that of a public school classroom. Each kindergartener participates weekly in art class, fitness class, music and chapel.
The Kindergarten teacher is certified by the state of Texas and goes through the same training as our other FBLC staff, receiving 24 hours of annual training as well as being CPR & First Aid Certified. This class meets Monday through Thursday from 9:15a to 2:15p.
Please read below to learn what former parents had to say about FBLC’s Kinder Program:
"When my husband and I, a former public middle school math teacher, were praying about schooling decisions regarding our eldest, FBLC opened their first Kindergarten class. We tried it and liked it so much that we sent our second child, too. I appreciated the schedule, the class size, and liked that our option at the end of the year was to either continue in a traditional Kindergarten setting or go through to the First Grade. We chose to start the First Grade with both of our daughters and they have excelled! We have enjoyed our experiences so much that daughter #3 will be headed to Kindergarten there next year!"

“We have had two sons go through First Baptist Learning Center Kindergarten. It is an essential first step for our children’s educational journey. In our experience, our boys have been introduced with quality instruction in small class sizes and we believe our kids are getting the most out of the instructional day. Our kids have had more hands on involvement with their teacher and their growth in speech, reading, and math has been noticed by us. They also love their elective teachers and fun activities provided. The 4 day/week program is packed full of activities, but as a mother, I enjoy the Friday’s with my son. First Baptist is licensed and we are excited that our children are prepared for the next step in their education. I recommend First Baptist Learning Center Kindergarten as a mandatory first step in your child’s educational journey. Take a look for yourself.”
