Pastor Search Update

Here is the latest update from the Pastor Search Committee (updated 2-9-17):

Our Pastor Search Committee has been meeting and praying together on a regular basis, as we’ve begun the initial stages of the search process for our Lead Pastor. We’ve been blessed and encouraged by the way we’ve seen God build fellowship and unity amongst us already. Our desire is to update you, our church family, on our current status and prayer needs, with the intent to provide additional updates as we travel along this journey together.

As members of the committee, we were highly impressed with the emphasis the Nominating Committee placed on prayer and their desire for wisdom, clarity, and unity among their team.

In keeping with that same spirit, we invite you, our church body, to pray alongside us with the following daily prayer focus during this season:

Monday —> Pastor
Isaiah 40:3-8 / 1 Timothy 3:1-7 / Philippians 2:3 / Hebrews 13:7

Tuesday —> Church Staff
Colossians 1:1-19 / Ephesians 1:17-23 / Acts 20:28

Wednesday —> Search Committee
John 15:4-5 / 1 Corinthians 1:10 / Matthew 7:7-8

Thursday —> Wisdom
Proverbs 2:1-11 / James 1:5 / Ephesians 1:17-23 / Job 12:13 / Proverbs 4:11-13

Friday —> Clarity
Proverbs 3:5-6 / 2 Corinthians 4:6 / Psalm 119:18, 30

Saturday —> Unity
Romans 15:5-6 / Philippians 2:2 / Romans 12:16 / Romans 14:19 / Ephesians 4:3

Sunday —> Church Family
Acts 9:31 / Romans 12:4-5 / Colossians 1:18 / Ephesians 4:15-16

Based on our location, church size, and reputation, we know that we will receive a tremendous interest in this Lead Pastor position. Therefore, we have felt God’s leading to engage the help of a search firm that specializes in matching high caliber leaders with dynamic churches.

By engaging the services of a search firm, it will help increase the number of quality applicants, streamline the vetting process, and will be especially useful in assessing the leadership styles and relationship skills of potential candidates. This will allow our committee to focus on the best slate of candidates through a process that we will be intimately involved with and will fully own.

We are excited about engaging a search firm because we feel it allows our committee to spend more time prayerfully discerning what type of leader God is preparing for our church family.

These are exciting days in the life of First McKinney! We, the Pastor Search Committee, are humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve our church body in this way at this time, and appreciate your continued prayers, support, and encouragement.
