Live & Love Like Jesus

Our Mission

First McKinney's mission is to make disciples who live and love like Jesus...

so that our neighbors, the nations and the next generation will follow Him.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
Matthew 22:37-40

Our values

Motivated by Grace - We are motivated by grace through faith in Christ. We are not motivated by guilt or by greed. (Romans 5:8, Ephesians 2:8-10)

Ignited to Love - The love of Christ compels us to love others. This love runs through all social, racial and demographic barriers and creates a culture of humble, authentic and selfless friendships. (Matthew 22:35-40, Mark 12:28-31, Luke 10:25-28, John 13:34-35)

Developed in Relationship - The gospel grows at the speed of relationships, and lives are changed when people do life together. Discipleship begins in the home. (Proverbs 27:17, Acts 2:42, 1 Thessalonians 2:8, Deuteronomy 6:4-9)

Driven by Scripture - God’s love letter to man guides everything we do. God’s power is released in our life as we apply it. (Psalms 1:1-3, 2 Timothy 3:14-17, Matthew 5:17)

Demonstrated through Missions - Everything we do is focused on multiplying disciples. We seek to reach our neighbors, the nations and the next generation. (Matthew 28:16-20, Mark 16:14-18, Luke 24:44-49, John 20:19-23, Acts 1:4-8)

Our strategy

Our Strategy

From the very beginning of its history over a century ago, missions and evangelism have been the driving forces of First Baptist Church, McKinney. On August 11, 1872, thirteen people met at the Collin County Courthouse and pledged to organize The First Baptist Church of McKinney, Texas. Over 143 years later, the DNA that was formed then is still found in the ministries of First McKinney and in a congregation that follows God wherever He leads with prayer and sacrifice. There are multiple ways for a family or individual to get involved through family-focused ministries and events. The love of God is transforming lives within the walls of FBC and beyond.  First McKinney's mission is to live and love like that our neighbors, the nations and the next generation will follow Jesus.  First McKinney's vision is to ignite a movement of multicultural people who engage their neighbors, the nations of the world and the next generation with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Through dynamic teaching and missional leadership First McKinney is leaving a legacy here and around the world. Family-focused ministries and events are the core to a missional church that seeks to impact both the people within the walls of the church, and the community outside. Through focused activities, missions trips, countless service projects, and thousands of donors who give to benevolent causes, we seek to be a blessing in action and words to those who are not blessed.

Core Beliefs

We affirm the Holy Bible as the inspired, inerrant Word of God and the basis for our beliefs.
2 Timothy 3:16; Romans 15:4; 2 Peter 3:1-2
We believe in one triune God, eternally existent in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:18-19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Hebrews 1:1-4
We believe in the full deity and full humanity of Christ.
Philippians 2:5-8; Luke 2:40; John 1:1-5; Hebrews 4:15
We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit who indwells every Christian’s life for the purpose of living a God-reflective life.
John 16:7-11; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 4:30
We believe the human race is sinful and separated from God and therefore must experience the work of Christ by faith in order to have a relationship with God.
Romans 3:10-20; Ephesians 2:1-3; Colossians 1:13-14
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as a biological male or biological female, and that these two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. We believe that marriage is exclusively the uniting of one man with one woman in a biblical covenant relationship for a lifetime.
Genesis 1:26-28; Genesis 2:18-25; Matthew 5:31-32; Matthew 19:3-9; 1 Corinthians 7:1-16; Ephesians 5:21-33; Colossians 3:18-21
We believe in the substitutionary atonement of Christ.
Romans 5:6-9; Galatians 3:13-14; Philippians 3:8-11
We believe that the church is the body of Christ and is to be about His work of making disciples of Christ in the world.
Ephesians 1:15-23; Matthew 28:16-20; 1 Corinthians 12:12-31
We believe that water baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper are the only ordinances of the church.
Matthew 28:19; Luke 22:14-23; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death.  We are therefore called to defend, protect and value all human life.
Psalms 139
We believe in the priesthood of the believer, whereby each believer has direct access to God through Christ, each Christian can go to God directly for forgiveness of sins and no human mediator is needed for this forgiveness.
Hebrews 4:15-16; Hebrews 7:25-28; 1Timothy 2:5
