People were created for a reason. God does nothing without a purpose. Scripture tells us that man’s purpose is to live all of life for the glory of God (Isaiah 43:7). Christians for centuries have believed this is our chief end: to glorify God and enjoy Him forever (Westminster Shorter Catechism, Question 1). We were made to worship; that is to give our lives away to and for something. The question is: what or who will we worship?
At First McKinney we believe that God created us to worship Him and that He is deserving of our worship. God is not only a holy, righteous, all-powerful and all-knowing God, He is also gracious, faithful, and steadfast in love. His righteousness and love are displayed most beautifully at the cross where His Son, Jesus, gave His life to rescue mankind from false worship. Though we were created to worship Him alone, we have all worshiped other things (Romans 1:25; Romans 3:23). Jesus paid for our false worship (sin) at the cross and saved us into an eternal relationship with Himself if we will trust in Him by faith (Romans 6:23, Romans 10:9, Ephesians 2:8).
Our worship services at First McKinney will be Christ exalting, Spirit empowered, authentic and joy-filled gatherings. Our aim is to point the way to Jesus. Our worship team and musicians are not performers. Their role is to simply say as often and in as many ways as they can: “Look at Jesus!” Music is great, Jesus is greater.
If you have a love for Christ and His church and to lead others in worship, we want you to be involved serving with us. The best way for you to get involved is through our choir or band:
- Open to middle school age and older
- No training/audition required; all you need to do is show up on a Wednesday night
- Contact: Holly Love, [email protected] or Justin Hornsby, [email protected]
Our Worship Ministry works with our Children/Student Ministries throughout the year to help raise up the next generation of worshipers. If your child or student has a strong desire and gift to lead others musically to Jesus, please contact Justin Hornsby, [email protected]
