First Baptist Learning Center
Thank you for your interest in First Baptist Learning Center. We believe that our outstanding program and staff are built on a solid foundation of excellence that has been represented by more than 40 years of educational service to the McKinney community. FBLC is a member of the Early Childhood Director’s Network, NAEYC and the Texas Baptist Church Weekday Education Association. Our staff is carefully screened through a detailed interview process. All staff members are CPR/First Aid certified and FBI fingerprinted/background checked. Each staff member must attend 24 hours of continuing education classes yearly. A degreed teacher is placed in each Pre-K and Kindergarten classroom. Teachers plan intentional and purposeful activities and experiences that meet the needs, interests, and abilities of children and supports them where they are in their development. We use a play-based approach because children learn best by doing/playing and by taking the initiative.
All classrooms have a scheduled snack and lunch provided by parent, rest time, indoor/outdoor activity time, and educationally sound learning centers. In addition, we provide several enrichment opportunities in music, physical fitness, art studio, weekly chapel and outdoor exploration in the outdoor classroom.
The outdoor classroom is an extension of the classroom and is considered another space for learning. It addresses the child as a whole (spiritually, physically, emotionally, cognitively, and socially.) It also provides an opportunity to integrate nature into the school day. The premise of the outdoor classroom is that if you can do it inside, you can do it outside. Children benefit from spending more time outdoors. We believe that increasing the time that our students spend outdoors is a perfect way to nurture their sense of wonder.
Our weekday preschool program and staff are supervised by the Marriage and Family Minister of Frist McKinney. While the weekday program is an integral part of the Children’s Ministry of First Baptist, it is funded entirely by the tuition and fees of students. Our fees and tuition reflect a competitive and fair rate to cover all expenses including classroom resources, specials, and payroll. Please click through our site for details regarding the upcoming school year. FBLC follows the MISD calendar from Labor Day to mid May. Information is available regarding tuition, curriculum, and program options. Thank you for considering First Baptist Learning Center for your child’s educational needs.
