Luke 10:25-37 Serve Others - Follow The Pathway | Sam Holm | 8-16-26
What does it really mean to love your neighbor? In Luke 10:25-37, Jesus tells one of the most well-known parables in all of Scripture, the story of the Good Samaritan, and the message is just as relevant today as it was two thousand years ago.
A man is beaten and left for dead on the road from Jerusalem to Jericho. Two religious leaders walk right past him. Then a Samaritan, someone the original audience would have despised, stops to help. He binds the man's wounds, carries him to safety, and pays for his care out of his own pocket. Jesus holds this unlikely hero up as the model of what it looks like to truly love your neighbor.
This teaching unpacks the parable of the Good Samaritan and explores what genuine, active compassion looks like in everyday life. Key topics include who your neighbor really is, why Jesus makes a Samaritan the hero of the story, how Jesus Himself is the ultimate Good Samaritan who came to rescue us when we were helpless, and how to practically love others using your talent, your time, and your treasure.
Whether you are exploring the Christian faith for the first time or have been following Jesus for years, this message will challenge you to move toward people instead of away from them, and to live out your faith in concrete, meaningful ways.
Topics covered: the Good Samaritan parable, Luke 10:25-37, loving your neighbor, the greatest commandment, Christian compassion, serving others, spiritual gifts, generosity, faith in action, Jesus and the law, who is my neighbor, Bible teaching, Christian living, discipleship, church sermon.
